Christmas card list with an address link
No account for you or for anyone you ask. Send one link to family and friends. Each person types in their own name and postal address, and it lands on your list. You tick off cards sent and received, print address labels for Avery 5160 or A4 sheets, and download everything as a spreadsheet.
How it works
- Start a list. You get a private host link. Bookmark it, it is the only way back to your list.
- Send the address link by text, email or the family group chat.
- People fill in their name and address the way it goes on an envelope. You can add anyone yourself, too.
- Tick off each card as you send it, and each card you get back.
- Print address labels or a plain list, or download a CSV for a spreadsheet or a mail merge.
What the people you ask see
A short form with your name at the top, a field for their name and one for their address. It says that only you see the address and when it is deleted. After sending, they get a link to remove their address again, at any time.
Good to know
- Everything is deleted after January 31 of next year (a list started in 2026 is deleted after January 31, 2027). Download the CSV before then if you want to keep the addresses.
- You can delete the whole list yourself at any time.
- A list holds up to 300 people. Each address can have up to 4 lines, so it fits on a label.
- Keep the host link private. Anyone who has it can see the addresses.
- Labels print for two sheet types: US Letter 3 x 10 (Avery 5160, 30 per sheet) and A4 3 x 8 (70 x 37 mm, 24 per sheet). Other sizes are not supported yet.
A worked example: 40 names, 25 fill in their own
Say you send cards to 40 households. You post the address link in the family chat, and 25 people fill in their own name and address. Of the other 15, you type 10 addresses in yourself from last year's envelopes, and 5 people have not answered yet, so you added their names and left the address empty.
The host page then shows 40 people, 0 sent and 0 received, plus a line saying that 5 people have no address yet and are left off the labels. That leaves 35 labels to print.
- Avery 5160 (US Letter, 3 x 10, 30 per sheet): 2 sheets, 30 labels on the first and 5 on the second.
- A4 3 x 8 (70 x 37 mm, 24 per sheet): 2 sheets, 24 labels on the first and 11 on the second.
When the last 5 answers come in, remove the 5 name-only entries you added for them. The list is then at 40 labels, still 2 sheets of either kind. Every label holds the name line and up to 4 address lines.
What is stored, and for how long
- Your list: the name you gave for it and a hash of the key in your host link. The key itself is only in the link.
- Each person: the name for the envelope, the address, whether they sent it themselves or you typed it, and your sent and received ticks.
- No email address is asked for and no email is sent to anyone. There are no tracking cookies and no IP address is stored with your list.
- The address form has a consent checkbox that names you, who sees the address and the deletion date. A person who sent their address gets a remove link on the thank-you page and can delete it at any time.
- The whole list is deleted after January 31 of next year, or right away when you delete it. The form also has a report link for pages that look misleading or abusive.
Questions people ask
- When should I ask for addresses?
- Joy's guide to collecting addresses for holiday cards suggests starting a few months ahead. A single link still works late, since filling it in takes a minute. The collecting guide has a message you can copy.
- What if someone does not use a phone or email much?
- Joy lists the same options: text the link, post it in a group chat, or fill the form in with them in person. Here you can also type the address in yourself from the host page, and it is marked as typed by you.
- One entry per person or per household?
- The name line is whatever goes on the envelope, up to 80 characters, so "The Garcia Family" works. Joy suggests sending a household's form to one contact, to avoid duplicates. The same advice fits here.
- What if an address changes?
- The sender can remove their entry with the link from the thank-you page and send a new one. You can also remove a person from your list.
- Can I keep the list for next year?
- Download the CSV before January 31. The list itself is deleted after that date.
